The main purposes of the CIRTEN activities are:
1_to foster the scientific and technological research on Nuclear Engineering in italian Universities, mainly addressing fission and fusion technologies as well as industrial and medical applications of ionising radiations;
2_to preserve and to develop the high-level knowledge and expertise in the Nuclear Engineering field, traditionally recognised in Italy, through a wide collaboration with European and extra-European universities, research centers, industries and organisations;
3_to support and coordinate the participation of the Member Universities of the Consortium to national and intenational R&D and E&T programmes;
4_to engage in education, communication and dissemination initiatives on nuclear topics, towards all the stakeholders (public opinion, media, governmental and institutional bodies).
